Annual General Meeting

Thank you to all who participated at our AGM on Nov. 19th, 2020. Though it was a bit unconventional this year being online, it was another great discussion with ideas that will definitely to help this association try to amend our programs around our current situation with Covid-19.

Once again we were almost able to fill every single position on the committee, compared to a handful of people who have been running the association for the past few years. We would like to announce that we have a new president this year, Chris Simpson, who has been handling our houseleague duties as convenor for the past few years, amongst many other duties along with coaching a Rep team the past couple of seasons. Congratulations, Chris!

Though we weren't able to offer a full program as in years past, we still would like to send a thank you once again to all the parents and players for your support over the past season. A special thank you to the committee members that worked to help run what little baseball we had amongst the restrictions.

Please note below the Committee members that were voted in for the 2021 season:

Also, our Girls Softball Director is looking to have someone fulfill these duties after this coming season, so please get in touch with us if you are interested in helping out our kids!

Waterdown Minor Baseball Association

Giving Thanks to Gary Zagar

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting our freind Gary Zagar, he has represented the greatness in volunteering for many years through various roles with the WMBA, from coaching to handling our equipment needs and dealing with the city as our liason. Through all his achievements, his primary focus was to have as many kids play baseball as possible and with his commitment, he has turned his determination into reality. Gary has recently decided to step down from his many roles as an exec, and in honor of Gary's excelence through the years, this past Tuesday evening we presented Gary with a plaque representing his longtime service with Waterdown Minor Baseball. Also presented was a new sign for what we previously named "the shed" at Joe Sams and will be now known as Zagar's Garage and Batting Cages, for which both were made possible through Gary's dealings with the city and his vision for the needs of our organization. We thank you Gary from the bottom of our hearts for all that you have done in the past 20+ years for the WMBA and we hope to see you from time to time enjoying yourself at the diamonds as you have in the past. If you happen to see Gary around town or at the fields, please share your admiration for all the well deserved applishments he has acheived for the WMBA and if you see kids smiling on the diamond, know Gary has a hand in it.

Our Upcoming WMBA Season

Update: Note our original posting noted an incorrect registration cutoff date. Please be advised that our registration ends April 30th. Please register sooner than later to avoid dissapointment as our division are fillng up quickly.

Hello Baseball Families,

Though you have not heard much from us for a while, we have been working hard in preparation for more baseball this year and have a few announcements:

Registration is now open!

We are happy to announce that registration for mixed houseleague, and girls softball programs is now available on-line as we are ready to tackle another upcoming baseball season. We encourage our members to register on-line, as we will not be offering in-person registration this year due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 and as recommended by Baseball Ontario to cancel all in-person activities. For those who have the inability or prefer not to use the internet for payment, you can still register online without paying initially. This would be highly appreciated to save our volunteers valuable time and effort. Other than paying online, mailing in a cheque is our only other option this year and the registration form and mailing address is available under the registration tab on the website. Note that there will not be an early bird cutoff for registration this year due to the volatility of the programs for this upcoming season. Registration ends April 30th. If you have any questions, including what tentative days each division plays, feel free to browse our FAQ section under our Member Info menu or email us through our Contact Us section. Though we had a fantastic season last year, we understand that you may have many questions regarding what the upcoming season may look like and we will have more details as they come to light once we get a better picture of our registration numbers. Please note that we did run our full but slightly modified baseball season last year under Covid protocols and though we were limited somewhat in what we could accomplish, the season was very successful with regard to our expectations and we hope to continue the same this year again for all our programs. Note: there is one change to our scheduling due to availablity of  facilities and our growth in members, 11U and 13U will be played Monday to Thursday without set nights and all divisions could experience playing some games on Fridays.  Note that our numbers have been down for the last few years for Bantam aged kids (15U), and in the event that we don't have enough participants registered before the cutoff, we may have to end up eliminating this division completely. Please register for this sooner than later as we are planning on having this division in house instead of joining along with a BOMBA loop.

Looking for coaches and umpires

Also of note, as per usual we are looking for coaches for every division in houseleague, so if you are interested in partaking, please send a note to our Houseleague Director, Adam Scott ( ). We are also in search for more umpires for the upcoming season. Please apply online in our Coach/Ump/Volunteer session or contact our Umpire-in-Chief, Mike Kinnear ( ) stating your interest or for more details.

Jr. Wolves program

New to this year we are introducing the Jr. Wolves pilot program. At a minimal cost, we are offereing a development program for players looking to move to the rep program in the future. The program is open to those born in 2015 but may possibly open up to those born in 2014 if space allows. Players will recieve a Jr. Wolves jersey and the programs will run on Saturdays thoughout the season. Registration is now available for this program on our registration section of the website. Also for this program, we are also interested in developing coaching for the rep program. For more information related to this, please contact program coordinator Chris Simpson ( ).

Thanks for your patience as we work out our details for our upcoming season and we hope to see your kids on the field soon!
